Assent in Early Intervention: Considerations for Play Therapy

$15.00

The field of ABA has a history of harmful impacts on clients in the name of therapy, especially in our early conception. Assent alone doesn’t guarantee that harm isn’t being done but it does require us to constantly reflect on our practices to try to do what is in the best interest of clients. This presentation will explore a variety of ways to increase assent using play therapy so that clients are given more autonomy in their programming as well as being stakeholders in their therapy.

Objectives:
1) Reflect on current assent practices in their current setting/field
2) Explore tools to increase assent in the early intervention setting
3) Modify concepts learned to apply to their respective roles
